Browns Waive LB James Burgess From IR With Settlement

The Cleveland Browns officially waived LB James Burgess from injured reserve with a settlement on Saturday.

Burgess, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville back in 2016. He was, unfortunately, among Miami’s final roster cuts but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

After brief stints with the Chargers, Ravens and Jaguars, Burgess signed on to the Browns’ practice squad during the 2016 season. Cleveland brought him back on a futures contract the following year before waiving him with an injury designation on Tuesday and he later reverted to injured reserve.

In 2018, Burgess has appeared in three games and recorded eight tackles and no sacks or interceptions.
