According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Buccaneers looked into possibly trading for DE Robert Quinn before the Rams traded him and a late-round pick to the Dolphins for two picks.

Fowler adds that the Buccaneers are in the market for pass rush help right now.

Last week, one report mentioned that Quinn was discussed in the Rams’ trade with the Chiefs for CB Marcus Peters before Kansas City decided to focus on draft compensation for their Pro Bowl cornerback, so it was clear that Quinn was available if teams wanted to pursue a deal.

Quinn, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2011. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $66.575 million extension that included $41.268 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salaries of $10.333 million and $11.811 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Quinn freed up $11,444,412 of available cap space for the Rams while creating $955,358 in dead money.

In 2017, Quinn appeared in 15 games for the Rams and recorded 32 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 edge rusher out of 108 qualifying players.
