Cardinals Re-Sign LB Marcus Benard

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that the Cardinals have re-signed LB Marcus Benard on Monday.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians announced Monday that they are placing OLB Matt Shaughnessy going on injured reserve with the designation to return after he suffered a knee on Sunday, so they could use some depth at linebacker.

Benard, 29, previously signed one-year contract with Arizona back in March, but he has been released two times in the past five weeks or so.

He spent the first three years of his career with the Browns before he later signed with the Cardinals back in October of last year. He appeared in 12 games last year and totaled 17 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
