The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday that they’ve activated CB Steven Nelson from the injured reserve list.
The Chiefs placed Nelson on injured reserve coming out of the preseason and the expectation was that he was going to be activated from injured reserve later on in the year, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.
Kansas City still has one more designation to return from injured reserve to work with this season.
Nelson, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.902 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement.
In 2016, Nelson appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and recorded 65 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and 16 pass defenses.
