Cowboys & Dez Bryant Discussing Contract Extension

Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports that the Cowboys have had “several discussions” with WR Dez Bryant‘s agent regarding a long-term contract extension.

However, MacMahon adds that the two sides “are not close to a deal” at this point in time.

“It feels good to know that things are being talked about, but I’m going to let it take care of itself,” Bryant told ESPNDallas.com on Thursday. “I feel like as long as I take care of business on that field, the rest will be taken care of.”

According to MacMahon, “Bryant believes he has earned the right to be among the highest-paid receivers in the league.

Although, Bryant is aware that he may have to wait to sign a lucrative contract.

Bryant, 25, is set to become an unrestricted free agent following the season and has emerged as one of the best receivers in the game today. He stands to make just $1.78 million for the 2014 season.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see Bryant end up with a contract that pays him $10 million annually, which would leave him among the highest paid receivers in the NFL.

In 2013, Bryant hauled in 93 receptions for 1233 yards to go along with a career-high 13 touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has Bryant rated as the No. 22 wide receiver in the league.

We have Bryant listed as the No. 4 player in our Top 25 – 2015 Free Agents list.
