Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Dolphins’ interview with special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi will take place on Friday.
Garafolo adds that Miami is not expected to hire a new head coach anytime soon and their other candidates for the job are all still coaching in the playoffs anyway.
The list of reported interviews for the Dolphins includes:
- Patriots DC Brian FloresÂ
- Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy
- Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris RichardÂ
- Dolphins STs coordinator Darren Rizzi
- Saints DCÂ Dennis AllenÂ
Rizzi, 48, began his coaching career at Colgate back in 1993. He worked for a number of schools before being hired as Rhode Island’s head coach for the 2008 season.
Rizzi lasted just one year at Rhode Island and led the team to a record of 3-9 before he was replaced.
The Dolphins hired Rizzi as their special teams coordinator in 2010 and he’s remained in the position ever since.
