Dolphins Sign CB Bobby McCain To Four-Year, $27M Extension

Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins have signed CB Bobby McCain to a four-year extension worth $27 million, including $13 million guaranteed.

The Dolphins picked up $17 million in available cap space after the dead money after Ndamukong Suh‘s former contract came off the books on June 1, so they clearly wanted to move quickly on re-signing McCain.

McCain, 24, is a former fifth-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was entering the final year of a four-year, $2.508 million rookie contract that included a $228,000 signing bonus and is set to earn a base salary of $705,000 in 2018.

In 2017, McCain appeared in all 16 games for Miami and recorded 48 total tackles, one sack, two interceptions, and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 46 overall cornerback out of 121 qualifying players.
