Falcons Create $1.5M Of Cap Space By Reworking Brooks Reed’s Contract

Field Yates reports that the Falcons created $1.5 million of cap space for the 2018 season by restructuring OLB Brooks Reed‘s contract in recent days.

According to Yates, Reed’s cap number has been reduced from $5.44 million down to $3.94 million.

Reed, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with Houston before agreeing to a five-year, $22.5 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed back in 2015.

Reed was set to make base salaries of $4.5 million over the next two years.

In 2017, Reed appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 41 tackles and four sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
