Broncos Waive G John Moffitt From Reserve/Retired List, Buccaneers An Option?

Update:

The Denver Broncos officially waived s G John Moffitt from the reserve/retired list on Wednesday, according to the NFL Transactions release.

Moffitt is subject to waivers and Mike Garafolo mentions that the Buccaneers could be a team to keep an eye on, given that they have added a number of players with top overall waiver priority.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, former Seahawks and Broncos G John Moffitt is un-retiring in the hope of joining an NFL team.

The Broncos still hold his rights, but plan to release him in the coming days, according to Glazer.

Since retiring from the NFL back in November of 2013, Moffitt has worked to get over his drug issues and clean up his life. Glazer has been training Moffitt for the past three months, so we’ll have to see if an NFL team shows interest in him before the start of training camp.

The offensive line market isn’t very deep, even though Pro Bowler Evan Mathis is currently available.

Moffitt, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He spent just two years in Seattle before he was later traded to the Broncos in return for DL Brian Sanford.

Seattle tried to trade him to the Browns, but that deal fell through after injury concerns were raised regarding this injured knee.

Moffitt last appeared in an NFL game during the 2013 season while playing for the Broncos.
