Free Agent OLB Ahmad Brooks Leaves Green Bay, Packers Still Hoping To Sign Him

The Green Bay Packers brought in veteran OLB Ahmad Brooks for a visit on Tuesday, but Rob Demovsky is reporting that Brooks left without an agreement.

Even so, the Packers are still hoping to sign Brooks to a contract but it remains to be seen if he has other visits lined up or if he’s mulling an offer from Green Bay.

Brooks is reportedly generating interest from the Broncos as well.

The Packers could really use some pass rush depth behind Clay Matthews and Nick Perry, and given that Brooks is one of the best available free agents at the position, it could be a good fit for both parties.

Brooks, 33, is a former supplemental third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2006. He spent two years in Cincinnati before he was claimed off of waivers by the 49ers in 2008.

In 2016, Brooks appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and recorded 35 tackles, six sacks, four pass defenses and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
