Report: TE Dustin Keller Leaves Visit With Patriots Without A Contract

Update:

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported that free agent TE Dustin Keller has left his visit with the Patriots without a contract.

  • Howe’s source mentioned that Keller’s “knee is healed,” so that doesn’t appear to be an issue.

It’s actually fairly impressive that Keller’s knee has healed already given that he tore ligaments while also dislocating his knee.

Miami signed Keller to a one-year, $4.25 million contract after he didn’t fair as well as he was hoping in the free agent market last year.

This was Keller’s first reported visit, so we’ll have to see if he has more scheduled in the coming weeks.

We have him listed as the No. 18 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that free agent TE Dustin Keller is visiting with the Patriots on Wednesday.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Keller’s physical on his knee went “very well.”

It should come as no surprise that the Patriots are looking at Keller given that they could really some extra depth at the position. On top of that, Rob Gronkowski continues to deal with injuries, and even though Keller is coming off a major injury of his own, he could be a great buy-low at this point in the offseason.

The Dolphins have said that they are still interested in bringing him back, so that could be something to watch as well.

There are obvious concerns about him moving forward, but he still only 29 years old and his rehab is reportedly on track for the 2014 season.
