Jaguars Signing G Andrew Norwell To Five-Year, $66.5M Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jaguars intend to sign Panthers free agent G Andrew Norwell to a five-year, $66.5 million contract that includes $30 million fully guaranteed at the start of the free agency on Wednesday.

Schefter adds that this contract will make Norwell the highest paid guard in the NFL at $13.3 million per year.

This comes as a surprise, seeing as a report from last night mentioned that the 49ers, Colts, and Giants were believed to be Norwell’s three finalists.

Norwell, 26, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in 2014. He finished out his three-year, $1,542,000 deal with Carolina before agreeing to a one-year restricted tender worth $2.746 million for the 2017 season.

In 2017, Norwell appeared in all 16 games for the Panthers and Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 3 guard out of 77 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 100 – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
