Keeping Tyson Clabo Is A Win For Atlanta

We’ve spent a lot of time covering the issues that the Atlanta Falcons would have to deal with during free agency and at the top of that list is their offensive line.

The Falcons have Tyson Clabo, Harvey Dahl and Justin Blalock as unrestricted free agents. That account for 60% of their offensive line. Trading up Julio Jones back in April was a costly move for them considering what they gave up to get so they were going to have to retain some of their offensive lineman if they were going to see their investment pay dividends in the upcoming season.

Atlanta ultimately beat out the Buffalo Bills for Clabo and gave him a five-year worth $25m with $11.5 guaranteed (Jason La Canfora). Pete Prisco CBSSports.com reports that the Falcons will now focus on Justin Blalock which seems like the obvisou decision.

They will have to address their defense as considering that they could use an upgrade to their pass rush and CB Brent Grimes is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Our earlier point was that the Falcons were not a wide receiver away from winning the Super Bowl last season and to get there next season may require even more considering that they’re playing in what is shaping up to be a very competitive NFC South.
