Muhammad Wilkerson & Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Leave Visits With Redskins

John Keim of ESPN reports that free agent CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and DL Muhammad Wilkerson both left their visits with the Redskins on Tuesday without agreements in place.

According to Keim, nothing appears to be imminent with either player and Washington is in “wait and see mode” right now.

It’s worth mentioning that signing either player to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Wilkerson has now visited with the Redskins, ChiefsPackers and Saints the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, Rodgers-Cromartie also plans to visit with the Saints at some point in the near future.

Wilkerson, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with the team and was in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason before the Jets used their franchise tag on him last year.

The Jets surprisingly locked him up to a five-year, $86 million contract that included $53.5 million guaranteed just before the deadline last year. Wilkerson was set to make base salaries of $16.75 million and $15.25 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Jets announced his release last week.

In 2017, Wilkerson appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 46 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 50 interior defender out of 122 qualifying players.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He was in the final year of his five-year, $35 million contract that included $13.98 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $6.48 million for the 2018 season when the Giants released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Rodgers-Cromartie appeared 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 58 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We have both players featured in our Top 100 – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
