Dalvin Cook

  • Jason Cole of B/R reports that Florida State RB Dalvin Cook continues to slide down draft boards because of inconsistent and workouts and troubling off-the-field issues.
  • According to Cole, NFL teams aren’t impressed with the advisors and marketing people he’s surrounded himself with.
  • Cole says that the main concern is that Cook won’t be able to distance himself from some of the questionable people from his past.
  • Cook is traveling to Tampa Bay to visit with the Buccaneers. (Ian Rapoport)

Jets

  • According to Manish Mehta, the Jets didn’t receive any trade offers for Brandon Marshall ahead of last year’s trade deadline that made sense for them and it was clear after the season was out that no one was going to part with draft compensation for him.
  • Mehta writes that Josh McCown is the favorite to win the Jets’ starting job, but second-year QB Christian Hackenberg will get a chance to play a fair amount this season. In fact, Mehta says that the Jets are “cautiously optimistic” new QBs coach Jeremy Bates will be able to help him this year.
  • Mehta believes the smartest move for the Jets would be for them to trade back in round one.
  • Florida S Marcus Maye visited with the Jets this week and reportedly has some fans within the organization. (Manish Mehta)
  • Ole Miss WR Damore’ea Stringfellow is visiting with the Jets on Thursday. (Manish Mehta)
