Packers Not Guaranteeing Donald Driver A Roster Spot?

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writes that, in his view, Packer WR Donald Driver isn’t a lock to make the Packers’ 53-man roster.

McGinn mentions that Driver has “slipped this summer” and the fact that they have some serious players to address in the coming years, could make Driver’s salary of $1.8 million for the 2012 season worth saving.

It’s safe to assume that Green Bay is going to give other receivers like Randall Cobb more playing time this season, which leaves a fairly limited role for Driver, but the fact that they re-signed him months ago suggests that they do expect him to make the team.
