Packers WR Randall Cobb Wearing Walking Boot, Dealing With Ankle Injury

Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that he ran into Packers WR Randall Cobb, who was wearing a walking boot on his right foot.

According to Cohen, Cobb described the boot as “temporary” but didn’t say if he had undergone surgery for a particular injury.

A source tells Cohen that the Packers may ease Cobb onto the field during training camp, but there’s no concern about his availability for the season opener.

Cohen adds that Cobb is dealing with an ankle injury.

The Packers drafted three receivers this offseason after they released Jordy Nelson, so there’s already a lot of turnover at receiver for Green Bay. Cobb’s status will be worth watching this summer, seeing as he’s in line to be a big offensive weapon for them.

Cobb, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2011. He’ll be entering the four-year, $40 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $8.6 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Cobb has appeared in 14 games for the Packers and caught 62 passes for 608 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
