Panthers Sign Third-Round Pick G Trai Turner

The Carolina Panthers announced the signing of third-round pick G Trai Turner on Wednesday.

Carolina now has five of their six draft picks under contract, not including first-round selection WR Kelvin Benjamin.

Turner’s four-year contract is worth an estimated $2,795,800 and includes a signing bonus of $539,800, according to OverTheCap.com.

Reports out of Carolina suggest that Turner is expected to compete with Chris Scott for the team’s starting right guard job in training camp.

At LSU, Turner started 20 games at right guard and was a second-team All-SEC selection last season. He offers decent size and athleticism for an offensive lineman, so I’m sure the Panthers are really hoping he develops into an immediate starter.
