Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that police in Tampa, Florida are investigating a single-car accident that occurred Sunday night and involved a vehicle registered to Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson.

According to a police report obtained Garafolo, police found marijuana and hollow-point bullets in the car upon searching the vehicle.

The report shows that a Chevy Silverado was found an abandoned after striking a tree. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and police later determined that it was registered to Jackson.

In total, police recovered 6.3 grams of marijuana and also found two .38 caliber hollow-point bullets, which are legal in Florida. The vehicle has been impounded.

Garafolo says that Jackson initially declined to cooperate with officers before he gave them the name of the alleged driver.

A representative for Jackson, Denise White, says the Buccaneers’ WR had nothing to do with the incident.

“It was a friend of DeSean’s who borrowed his car while he was out of town,” White said. “None of what was in the car was his obviously. He’s dealing with the person that was using it without his knowledge privately. The incident is being handled.

Jackson, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2008. He spent six years with the Eagles before signing a three-year, $24 million contract with the Redskins back in 2014.

After three years with the Redskins, Jackson once again departed in free agency and agreed to a three-year, $35 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers. He stands to make base salaries of $11 million and $10 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Jackson appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers and caught 50 passes for 668 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Jackson and this matter as the news is available.
