QB Matt Cassel Could Land With The Texans?

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk believes that free agent QB Matt Cassel could fit in with the Texans’ roster, due to his relationship with HC Bill O’Brien.

O’Brien coached Cassel while with the Patriots in 2007 and 2008. In fact, Cassel started all 16 games for the Patriots in 2008.

Cassel, 33, was a part of the Bills’ roster cuts on Saturday to get down to the required 53-man roster. Florio reasons that Cassel’s knowledge of O’Brien’s offensive system could be a strong contributor to sign with Houston.

However, Florio insists that Cassel would be more likely to sign with a team that could give him a No. 2 role, rather than a spot with the third-team, which he would likely have with the Texans.

In 2008 with O’Brien, Cassel started 16 games, accumulating 3,693 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

We will provide more information regarding Cassel’s free agent search, as the news becomes available.
