Raiders Restructure Marshawn Lynch’s Contract, New Deal Worth Up TO $9.25M In 2018

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Raiders and RB Marshawn Lynch agreed to a restructured his contract last weekend before his $1 million roster bonus was due.

Lynch’s new contract reduced his base salary to $5.5 million for the 2018 season, but essentially guaranteed him $4.5 million of this figure when had previously had no guaranteed money remaining. In total, Lynch can earn up to $9.25 million total with incentives.

This all but ensures Lynch will be part of the Raiders in 2018, despite some talk this offseason that he could be let go.

The Raiders signed Doug Martin in free agency, so Lynch will have to slipt workload more this season, but that could be a good thing for both he and the team.

Lynch, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in 2007. He played three seasons in Buffalo before he was traded to the Seahawks.

Lynch decided to retire after six years with the Seahawks, but later came out of retirement last year and was traded to the Raiders.

In 2017, Lynch has appeared in seven games and rushed for 891 yards on 207 carries (4.3 YPC) and seven touchdowns to go along with 20 receptions for 151 yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 running back out of 58 qualifying players.
