Browns C Alex Mack Has Broken Leg, Likely Out For The Season

Browns HC Mike Pettine told reporters after the game that C Alex Mack is believed to have suffered a broken leg.

  • Mack had an air cast placed over his leg for the time being.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Pat McManamon confirmed that Mack suffered a broken fibula that will likely cost him the remainder of the 2014 season.

Ian Rapoport updates the situation involving Browns C Alex Mack with the news that Mack has a broken ankle and the team is concerned that he could be done for the season.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Browns C Alex Mack is believed to have suffered a “significant” lower-leg injury.

  • According to Rapoport, Mack is expected to miss “extended” time due to this injury.

Mack was carted off the field with a left-ankle injury during Cleveland’s Week 6 game against the Steelers, so it appears all along that this was a major injury.

Cleveland was forced to bring in veteran OL Paul McQuistan to replace Mack, but we’ll have to see what their plan is moving forward.

Mack, 28, is in the first year of his five-year, $42 million contract that included $26 million guaranteed. His base salary for the 2014 season is $10 million.
