Saints Plan To Sign DE Royce LaFrance

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that the Saints intend to sign DE Royce LaFrance to a contract before the start of training camp next month.

LaFrance took part in the Saints’ minicamp this week on a tryout basis.

LaFrance, 23, was invited to the Saints’ rookie minicamp last year but it wasn’t until October that he was signed to the Saints’ practice squad. Unfortunately, New Orleans elected to cut him loose a few weeks later.

LaFrance signed a futures deal with the Saints this past January before waiving him shortly after this year’s draft.

During his college career at Tulane, LaFrance recorded 121 tackles, 35.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two recoveries and nine pass defenses over the course of four seasons.
