Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Saints have signed WR Kyle Prater to a reserve/future contract on Tuesday.
Prater becomes the 9th player to sign a futures deal with the Saints. The other players include:
- WR R.J. Harris
- DE Phillip Hunt
- WR Shane Wynn
- WR Reggie Bell
- S Alden Darby
- OT Bryan Witzmann
- G Cyril Lemon
- CB Brandon Dixon
Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.
Prater, 23, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern back in May of last year. He was released during the preseason and didn’t catch on with another team during the season.
Prater has yet to appear in an NFL game.
