Saints Sign LB David Hawthorne

Finally, someone has signed LB David Hawthorne to a contract.

The New Orleans Saints have announced that they have reached a five-year agreement with the former Seahawk’s linebacker.

There was a lot of speculation that Jonathan Vilma could be released when they added Curtis Lofton, but that was quickly dismissed by the team. This move, however, has to suggest that Vilma’s future in New Orleans is at the very least in question. The fact that his name is connected to the ongoing bounty scandal can’t help his chances of playing with the Saints either.

As for Hawthorne, John Clayton mentioned that the Seahawks could be close to getting something done, but proved to be completely inaccurate. We had him listed as the #3 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
