Seahawks Place 2nd-Rd Tender On RFA CB Justin Coleman

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Seahawks have placed a second-round tender on restricted free agent CB Justin Coleman.

The second-round restricted tender will cost them $2.914 million for the 2018 season, but ensure that they will receive a second-round pick in return for him should they decide to not match any offer he receives in free agency.

Coleman, 24, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted out of Tennessee back in May of 2015. However, he was unfortunately placed on waivers at end of the preseason.

Coleman bounced around between the Patriots and Seahawks at the start of the 2015 season but later returned to New England has spent the past two years with them. The Patriots re-signed Coleman as an exclusive rights free agent last March before trading him to the Seahawks for a late-round pick at the start of the 2017 season.

In 2017, Coleman appeared in all 16 games and recorded 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions returned for touchdowns and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
