Seahawks Place TE Jimmy Graham On Season-Ending I.R. & Promote DT A.J. Francis

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Seahawks have officially been placed TE Jimmy Graham on season-ending injured reserve.

  • The Seahawks also promoted DT A.J. Francis to their active roster.

Graham unfortunately suffered a torn patellar tendon during Sunday’s win over the Steelers that will require surgery.

The expectation is that Graham will be ready for the start of the 2016 season.

Graham, 29, came over in a trade with the Saints that sent C Max Unger and a first-round pick to New Orleans.

He’s in the second year of his four-year, $40 million contract that included $20.9 million guaranteed. Graham will make a base salary of $2.9 million for the 2015 season to go along with $8.9 million (2016), and $7.9 million (2017).

This season, Graham caught 48 passes for 605 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of 11 games for the Seahawks.

Francis, 25, signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland back in 2013. He was unable to make the 53-man roster during his rookie and was waived at the start of the season.

After a brief stint with the Patriots and Dolphins, the Seahawks claimed him off of waivers a few weeks ago. However, he was later added to their practice squad.

This season, Francis has appeared in one game and recorded a single tackle for the Dolphins.
