Steelers HC Mike Tomlin’s Contract Vested, Now Under Team Control Through 2019

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Mike Tomlin’s contract with the Steelers vested based on the wins the team has had. Tomlin is now under contract with Pittsburgh through the 2019 season.

  • According to Rapoport, the Steelers have had some talks with Tomlin about a longer deal.
  • Ed Bouchette mentioned earlier this morning that the Steelers are expected to announce Tomlin’s extension soon.

Tomlin is widely considered to be one of the best head coaches in the NFL, so it’s not surprising to hear that the Steelers have at least considered the possibility of extending his contract beyond the 2019 season.

Tomlin, 45, was hired as the Steelers head coach back in 2007 and managed to win a Super Bowl in just his second year with the franchise.

In total, Tomlin has a career record of 103-57 (64.4 percent), which includes seven playoff appearances in 10 seasons.
