Steelers Sign Fifth-Round Pick CB Shaquille Richardson

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the signing of fifth-round pick CB Shaquille Richardson on Thursday.

The Steelers have now signed five of their nine 2014 draft picks. All that remains is their first fourth selections.

Richardson’s four-year contract is worth an estimated $2,410,052 and includes a signing bonus of $190,052, according to OverTheCap.com.

At Arizona, Richardson started 37 games and totaled 189 tackles (142 solo), eight tackles for loss, 10 interceptions, 131 interception return yards, 30 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

There’s no question that Pittsburgh needs depth at cornerback given that Ike Taylor is starting to get up there in years and mileage. Hopefully, Richardson is able to show the coaching staff something during OTAs and training camp and eventually work himself into the mix.
