Torrey Smith Returning To Ravens “Very Real Possibility” If/When Released

Jason La Canfora reports that there is a “very real possibility” that Eagles WR Torrey Smith returns to the Ravens if Philadelphia decides to decline his contract option for 2018.

Smith, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. He is entering the second year of a three-year, $15 million contract with the Eagles and is set to earn a base salary of $5 million over the next two years of his deal.

After finishing his four-year rookie deal with the Ravens in 2015, the 49ers signed him to a five-year, $40 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed but released him two years into the deal.

Following his release by San Francisco, there were rumors that Baltimore had a “very, very strong likelihood” of re-signing him. However, he landed a deal with the Eagles a few days after being cut. (NFLTR)

According to OverTheCap.com, the Eagles would free up $5 million in cap space by releasing him while creating no dead money.

In 2017, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 36 receptions for 430 yards (11.9 YPC) and scored two touchdowns.
