Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports takes a look at some players that could be available for trade this summer in his latest article.
La Canfora can see the Vikings including more guaranteed money in Adrian Peterson‘s contract, but he also doesn’t rule out the possibility of them fielding trade offers for Peterson at some point.
In the event the Vikings do take some calls regarding Peterson, La Canfora suggests the Cowboys and Buccaneers as the two teams that would make the most sense for him.
Previous reports mentioned that the Jets received calls from NFL teams regarding the availability of DE Muhammad Wilkerson. Interestingly enough, the Jets wound up taking USC DL Leonard Williams with their first-round pick, which is only going to fuel more speculation that Wilkerson could be available for trade.
According to La Canfora, the Browns could be a good fit Wilkerson, seeing as they have Mike Pettine in place as their head coach. Cleveland added NT Danny Shelton in the draft, but their defensive line could still use more impact talent.
The Jets’ asking price would obviously be quite high. La Canfora mentions that it could cost a team a first and a third to even get the Jets to listen to an offer.
Other speculative options, according to La Canfora, include the Bears, Saints and Raiders.
La Canfora believes the Titans would be wise to field trade offers for QB Zach Mettenberger, even after they spoke highly of him throughout the offseason.
One of the factors that could help Tennessee in trade talks is the fact that there are so few serviceable options at quarterback right now.
La Canfora mentions that the Titans would be wise to see what teams like the Rams, Browns, Saints, Bengals, 49ers and Seahawks would be willing to offer for the former sixth-round selection.
La Canfora seems to think the Saints could trade for a tight end at some point in the coming months.
