49ers Cut Seven Players

The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday that they’ve cut seven players including:

  1. WR Steven Dunbar Jr.
  2. DB Godwin Igwebuike
  3. CB Tarvarus McFadden
  4. LB James Onwualu
  5. WR Jordan Smallwood
  6. S Terrell Williams Jr.
  7. P Justin Vogel

Vogel, 25, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami last year. He was in the second year of his three-year, $1.66 million contract when the Packers waived him back in May of last year.

The Browns claimed Vogel off of waivers but elected to cut him loose coming out of the preseason. Vogel later signed a one-year contract with the 49ers this past March.

In 2017, Vogel appeared in all 16 games for the Packers and totaled 2,991 yards on 71 attempts (42.12 YPA) to go along with two touchbacks.

Williams, 22, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in May. He signed a three-year $1.71 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $485,000 for the 2018 season.

The 49ers placed Williams on injured reserve during the preseason with a hyperextended knee and he was later waived with an injury settlement. San Francisco brought him back on a futures contract after the season.

During his college career at Houston, Williams recorded 95 tackles, four interceptions, a fumble recovery and seven pass defenses over the course of 23 games.
