49ers Make Several Roster Moves, Designate WR Deebo Samuel To Return From IR

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Wednesday they have designated WR Deebo Samuel to return from injured reserve.

  • The 49ers also signed TE Daniel Helm off of the Buccaneers’ practice squad to a one-year deal and signed LS Taybor Pepper to a one-year deal.
  • San Francisco placed LB Mark Nzeocha on the injured reserve list and waived LS Kyle Nelson
  • They also signed OL Cody Conway and TE Charlie Taumoepeau to their practice squad and released OL William Sweet from the unit.

Here’s the 49ers updated practice squad:

  1. WR River Cracraft
  2. DB Johnathan Cyprien
  3. DT Darrion Daniels
  4. TE Chase Harrell
  5. DB Tim Harris (Injured)
  6. RB Jamycal Hasty
  7. RB Josh Hokit
  8. WR Jauan Jennings
  9. DB Jared Mayden
  10. T Dakoda Shepley
  11. LB Joe Walker
  12. WR Kevin White
  13. DB Brian Allen
  14. DE Alex Barrett
  15. RB Austin Walter
  16. OL Cody Conway
  17. TE Charlie Taumoepeau

This opens a three-week window of time for the 49ers to activate Samuel from injured reserve and add him to their 53-man roster.

Samuel sustained a broken foot back in June and was activated from their non-football injury list before being later placed on injured reserve.

Samuel, 24, was the No. 36 overall pick by the 49ers out of South Carolina in 2019. He’s entering the second year of a four-year, $7,697,356 rookie contract that includes a $3,618,076 signing bonus.

In 2019, Samuel appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and caught 57 passes for 802 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 14 rush attempts for 159 yards and another three touchdowns.
