49ers Place Alex Boone & Bubba Ventrone On I.R. & Sign Trindon Holliday

The San Francisco 49ers announced Friday that they placed veteran G Alex Boone and S Bubba Ventrone on season-ending injured reserve.

  • The 49ers also signed WR/KR Trindon Holliday and CB Cameron Fuller to contracts.

Boone, 27, agreed to a restructured contract with the 49ers after a standoff that lasted the better part of the summer. He appeared in 15 games and a total of 966 snaps this season.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 17 guard out of 79 qualifying players.

Holliday, 28, signed on with the Buccaneers a few months ago, but his stay was short lived. During the offseason, he signed a one-year deal worth $700,000 with the Giants, but wound up being placed on injured reserve and later cut loose once he was healthy.

Holliday was an extremely productive kick returner for the Broncos a few years ago as he totaled 1,327 kick return yards, 752 punt return yards and four touchdowns over the course of two years in Denver.

However, he’s had three fumbles and hasn’t been much of a contributor on the offensive side of the ball. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 12 kick returner in the league last year.
