According to Mike Garafolo, the 49ers are placing CB Richard Sherman on injured reserve.
Garafolo doesn’t have more specific injury details but says Sherman appears to have a leg issue. He’ll be eligible to return after a minimum of three weeks.
Tom Pelissero reports the issue is apparently a flareup related to an old injury, adding Sherman notably came back from an Achilles injury in 2017.
Sherman played nearly the entire game Sunday against the Cardinals and recorded four tackles. He has not been listed on the injury report until now.
Sherman, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He was entering the final of his five-year, $58.789 million contract when the Seahawks released him during the 2018 offseason.
The 49ers signed him to a three-year, $39.15 million contract. He is entering the final year of the deal and is set to earn a base salary of $8,000,000 this season.
In 2019, Sherman appeared in 15 games and recorded 61 total tackles, two tackles for loss, three interceptions, 11 pass defenses, and scored one defensive touchdown.
We’ll have more on Sherman as the news is available.
