The San Francisco 49ers announced that they’ve officially waived WR Bruce Ellington.
Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that the 49ers plan to release WR Bruce Ellington on Thursday.
Ellington, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.694 million contract and set to make a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.
Unfortunately, Ellington missed the entire 2016 season after he suffered a torn hamstring during the preseason and was later placed on injured reserve.
In 2015, Ellington appeared in 13 games and caught 13 passes for 153 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also contributed 665 kick return yards and 137 punt return yards that year.
