Vikings Place Adrian Peterson On The Active/PUP List

Vikings placed RB Adrian Peterson on the active/PUP list.

Peterson will be able to come off the list at anytime, so this isnโ€™t exactly a huge deal. Toby Gerhart has been working with the first-team offense so far.

ESPN 1500 Twin Citiesโ€˜ Tom Pelissero writes that the โ€œsmart moneyโ€ is on Adrian Peterson to be activated from the camp/PUP list after the first exhibition game on Aug. 10 at San Francisco.

Pelissero thinks Peterson will play some role in the Sept. 9 opener against the Jaguars, but he believes Toby Gerhart will shoulder a heavier load until Petersonโ€™s back to his Pro Bowl form, which could take all season.

Gerhart is not necessarily a make-you-miss guy. He plays strong, tough and rugged and can be a downhill, between-the-tackles type of player. If the Vikings donโ€™t have Peterson, they will miss the lateral running game, the stretch plays to the perimeter, the speed presence out on the edges. Although theyโ€™ll still also have some inside strength and some inside power to run between the tackles.
