Bengals
Bengals WR A.J. Green mentioned in an interview with SiriusXM Radio that his toe is “feeling really, really good.”
“My toe is feeling really, really good and I’m ready to get back to work,” Green said.
Green said HC Zac Taylor‘s new offense reminds him a lot of Redskins HC Jay Gruden‘s when he was the Bengals offensive coordinator.
“For my first year with Jay, it was a lot of shot plays,” Green said. “Everything’s married off the run. Everything’s lookalike, but we have like different stems, different routes off that same that same concept. But I’m very excited for this offense. I’m ready to get down the field, like we did in 2015 and ’14, all those big-chunk plays that we had, so I’m ready to get back to that.”
Browns
- BrownsZone.com’s Scott Petrak believes the Browns want third-round LB Sione Takitaki to win the starting inside linebacker job ahead of Genard Avery.
- While the Browns would also like second-round CB Greedy Williams to win the No. 2 corner spot, Petrak thinks veteran Terrance Mitchell will hold off Williams for at least the first part of the season.
- Petrak expects rookie K Austin Seibert to win the starting kicker job ahead of Greg Joseph.
- Petrak writes that barring an injury on a potential playoff team creating a market, the Browns will likely keep RB Duke Johnson.
Jaguars
Jaguars LB Telvin Smith, who has been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks, posted on Instagram that he’s “never leaving Duval.”
“Understand this, I never left Duval,” Smith said, via Justin Barney of News4Jax. “I’m never leaving Duval; it’s Duval til we die. You understand me? Y’all seen trade rumors and stuff. Y’all seen me go anywhere? Exactly. Y’all seen the rumors go somewhere, but y’all ain’t seen me go no where cause I ain’t going nowhere. You understand me?
“I promise y’all this: Ain’t nothing about Telvin Smith leaving Duval.”
