AFC Notes: Bills, Patriots, Steelers

Bills

Bills GM Brandon Beane was asked about possibly signing free agent WR Dez Bryant to a contract yesterday and he admitted to looking at his tape.

โ€œWeโ€™ll look at everything,โ€ said Beane, via BuffaloBills.com. โ€œWe have looked at Dez on tape, butย I wouldnโ€™t take it any furtherย and I donโ€™t know where that would go. Weโ€™re looking to get better at all positions and receiver is one, so if we thought that was the right fit for us we would potentially pursue it.โ€

Beane also left the door open to the possibility that first-round QB Josh Allen could win the starting job this summer.

โ€œWeโ€™re not going to rush him,โ€ Beane said, via WKBW.com. โ€œBut if he somehow wins the jobโ€ฆ he wins it.โ€

Patriots

According to Mike Reiss, the Patriots are projected to head into the 2019 draft with a haul that consists of:

  • First round
  • Second round (via Bears)
  • Second round
  • Third round (via Lions)
  • Third round (projected compensatory pick)
  • Third round (projected comp pick)
  • Fourth round
  • Fifth round
  • Sixth round (projected comp pick)
  • Seventh round
  • Seventh round (via Eagles)
  • Seventh round (projected comp pick)

Steelers

Steelers GM Kevin Colbert mentioned that they had Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph rated with the other top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft.

โ€œHe was with the group ofย the top quarterbacks,โ€ Colbert said, via PennLive.com. โ€œThat was a really good position. Thatโ€™s very unique to the draft. It usually doesnโ€™t come through with a nice group like that. โ€ฆย We havenโ€™t had that much depth at the top of the draft at [quarterback]ย in a long time. Mason was certainly a part of that groupย in our opinion.โ€
