AFC Notes: Sean Payton, Jon Spytek, Chiefs Draft Meetings, Raiders, Broncos

Broncos

• Broncos HC Sean Payton said they now consider OLB Drew Sanders an inside linebacker. (Chris Tomasson)
• Regarding WR Courtland Sutton, Payton believes discussions will take place “in time.” (Tomasson)
• Payton continued on Sutton’s contract: “George and I were just talking about it. Those discussions will take place, George, Courtland’s (agent). We felt he had a real good season, he’s important to what we’re doing. So all of that will happen in time and I don’t think now’s the time.” (Mike Klis)
• Payton revealed QB Bo Nix had turf toe at one point during last year’s process. (Tomasson)
• Denver GM George Paton mentioned there’s a chance they retain RB Javonte Williams and praised his pass blocking. (Tomasson)
• Mike Klis reports Broncos QB Bo Nix underwent a score procedure of his ankle last month, which resulted in him passing up on attending the Pro Bowl. 
• According to Klis, Nix’s ankle issue wasn’t suffered during the season and was a pre-existing matter. 
• Broncos GM George Paton said Nix is working out again and will be fine going forward: “He’s back at the facility. He’s working out. He’s going to be good.” (Chris Tomasson)

Chiefs

• Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon II has several formal meetings scheduled at the combine including with the Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Colts, Dolphins, and Steelers. (Ryan Fowler)
• Per Justin Melo, many teams have met with or are scheduled to meet with Ole Miss CB Trey Amos including the Bengals, Bills, Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs, Commanders, Cowboys, Falcons, Jets, Panthers, Texans, and Vikings.
• Ole Miss EDGE Princely Umanmielan has met with the Chiefs, Eagles, and Buccaneers. (Mike Payton)

• Georgia Tech DE Kyle Kennard had a formal interview with the Chiefs, per D. Orlando Ledbetter.
• Iowa State CB Darien Porter had formal Combine interviews with six teams, including the Chiefs. (Tom Downey)

Raiders

• Raiders GM Jon Spytek was asked what their biggest needs are: “We won four games last year, and we’ve got to be realistic. We’ve got a lot of really good young players … we’ve just got to add quality humans and competitors to this roster wherever we can.” (Vic Tafur)
• Spytek on the QB situation: “Any avenue to find a quarterback, we’re going to explore… [we want to] load that room up for a competition.” (Lindsey Thiry)
• Spytek wouldn’t commit to a long-term deal with DE Maxx Crosby this offseason but wants to keep him on the team for the long haul. (Tashan Reed)
• Per Over The Cap, the Raiders signed S Isaiah Pola-Mao to a two-year, $7.45 million extension with $3.5 million guaranteed including a $1.5 million signing bonus. He has base salaries of $2 million and $3.27 million in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
• Pola-Mao can earn up to $1 million in incentives and $680k in per-game roster bonuses. (Over The Cap)
