AFC South Notes: Colts, Jaguars, Texans, Titans

Colts

  • Colts HC Frank Reich said Monday that C Ryan Kelly (knee) “could miss a little bit of time” but he wasn’t willing to label him week-to-week. (Andrew Walker)
  • Reich said of DE Marcus Hunt (knee): “We feel a little bit more optimistic about him.”

Jaguars

Jaguars HC Doug Marrone said they are not going to bench QB Blake Bortles for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

“When you say that, you’ve got to see if someone you put in there is going to be better,” Marrone said about lineup changes in general, per Michael DiRocco. “That’s the point of what it is right now and I don’t think that we’ve ever not looked at if we can put someone in there that’s going to perform better. That comes during the week of practice. Then if someone can perform better during that week we’ll be able to do that. You can’t just replace people just to replace them. You’ve got to replace them with people that you feel are going to do a better job for you.

  • Marrone said he isn’t considering any changes to the team’s coaching staff at this time. (Daniel Popper)
  • According to Howard Balzer, the Jacksonville Jaguars brought in free agent WR Malachi Dupre for a tryout last week.

Texans

Titans

Titans HC Mike Vrabel said that QB Marcus Mariota suffered a stinger during Sunday’s game and it had nothing to do with his elbow. (Turron Davenport)

“When you have a stinger, there is numbness from neck down to arm. I’m hopeful he’ll check out, feel good enough to play on Monday,” Vrabel said, per Paul Kuharsky.

  • Vrabel added that Mariota was evaluated and not in the concussion protocol.
