Broncos

Chargers

  • Chargers GM Tom Telesco said that team still has to “talk over” the possibility of re-signing veteran TE Antonio Gates, but they realize the value he brings to the team: “We’ve still got some things to talk over, but I also realize how much he brings to our football team. He showed that last year. So they’re not always easy answers, but he showed at the end of the year what he can still do. I’ll probably know a little more in a couple weeks, and we’ll talk with some people here.” (Eric D. Williams)
  • Chargers HC Anthony Lynn confirmed that the team has not talked “in detail” with Gates about him returning: “We had a good exit meeting. It’s something we haven’t talked about with Antonio in detail yet, but he’s one of the greatest Chargers of all time.”
  • Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph said he worked out with QB Philip Rivers in Southern California a few weeks ago and spoke with the Chargers at the Senior Bowl. (Eric D. Williams)

Chiefs

According to Chiefs GM Brett Veach, 2017 first-round QB Patrick Mahomes is “one of the best players [he’s] ever seen.

“We had a plan for Patrick and that was to come in, learn the offense and not go out there and play until you have a firm mental grasp of what you want to accomplish,” Veach said, via NFL.com. “All the physical tools are there. He is one of the best players I have ever seen. But you don’t want to throw them out there too soon. You want them to be who they are and not really process too much, just play. Coach [Andy Reid] had a vision, and we brought him along slowly, and we are excited for the future.
