AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders

Broncos

Broncos G Ron Leary said he has been medically cleared from his Achilles injury and hasn’t had any setbacks.

Yeah, I’m cleared. I’m doing everything out there. I’ve been cleared by the doctors. Recovery went well. It probably was fast and that’s a good thing. I feel great and I haven’t had any setbacks. I’m doing everything I’ve got to. I feel great,” said Leary, via Nicki Jhabvala.

Chiefs

After undergoing offseason surgery on his ankle, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce will likely be held out until training camp.

“I don’t think [he’ll participate] next week,” Chiefs HC Andy Reid said, via the Kansas City Star. “I think you’ll probably see him in training camp.”

Raiders

Raiders first-round S Johnathan Abram is already running with the first-string defense.

“He’s smart,” Raiders DC Paul Guenther said, via Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He’s real smart. From a rookie player, with all the stuff safeties have to know, he’s on top of it each and every day. So it’s good to have him. When you’re back there, as I stand at the back of the defense, I hear him communicate. He doesn’t sound like a rookie player. He sounds like a veteran player.”

“He’s an alpha,” veteran CB Lamarcus Joyner said of Abram. “He just has to slow it down. He’s ready to go. He’s been an alpha all of his life, and I told him that you just have to think, keep your feet on the ground and let things come to him.
