According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, veteran Cย Alex Mack has yet toย visit with a team and has generated “no interest” since free agency kicked off a week ago.
Florio mentions that there is no way to put theย cap-rich Browns in spot where they are in danger of losing their Pro Bowl center now that the “poison pill” has been eliminated in the CBA.
The Browns used the transition tag on Mack, which means they would have to him a one-year tender of $10 million if he were to sign it.
Florio writes that a team would likely have to “grossly overpay” Mack, possibly in excess of the $10 million tender, in order for the Browns to pass on matching the offer sheet.
A number of teams could use help at center, and there is no question that Mack is an incredibly talented player, but it’s just hard to see him playing anywhere other than Cleveland next year.
Because of this we elected to keep him off of ourย Top 50 Best Available Free Agents list.
