Alterraun Verner Signing One-Day Contract To Retire With Titans

According to Jim Wyatt of the official team site, former Titans CB Alterraun Verner will sign a one-day contract with the team to retire a Titan on Wednesday.

Verner had previously announced he was retiring from the NFL. He spent his first four years in the league with the Titans.

Verner, 30, is a former fourth-round pick of the Titans back in 2010. He spent four years in Tennessee before signing a four-year, $25.5 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers in 2014.

Verner was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2017 season when the Buccaneers released him in 2017. He later signed on with the Dolphins and finished out the year in Miami.

For his career, Verner recorded 422 tackles, a half sack, 15 interceptions, 75 pass defenses, six forced fumbles, five recoveries and two defensive touchdowns over the course of 125 games and eight seasons. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2013.
