Joe Reedy ofย the Cincinnati Enquirerย reports that there are encouraging signs regarding the injury that rookie QB Andy Dalton suffered during his first NFL game.
“It’s fine. I just lost a little feeling and couldn’t grip it like I wanted to,” said Dalton. “If I could have gripped the ball I would have stayed in the game. The plan is to play. I’m going to come in and do whatever I can to make it better.”
Fortunately for the Bengals, Bruce Gradkowski stepped in and hit rookie WR A.J. Green for a game winning touchdown.
It’s hard to say that this win was the start of a great season for the Bengals but they weren’t pick by very people to win this game. Gradkowski may not be an ideal option at quarterback but the guys wins games when he’s able to play. Dalton needs more time and experience and considering that he’s dealing with injury to his throwing hand, the Bengals may elect to keep him on the bench and let him heal.
