The Chicago Bears officially placed DE Andrew Trumbetti on injured reserve Friday after clearing waivers.
Trumbetti, 22, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in May. He signed a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Bears and stands to make a base salary of $480,000 for the 2018 season.
The Bears waived Trumbetti with an injury designation on Thursday.
During his four-year college career at Notre Dame, Trumbetti recorded 90 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, and a pass defense over the course of 43 games.
