According to Field Yates, the Bears have exercised LB Leonard Floyd‘s fifth-year option.
Floyd’s fifth-year option will be worth $13.22 million and become fully guaranteed on the first day of the 2020 league year.
The fifth-year option is guaranteed for injury only and won’t prevent the two sides from working on a long-term deal over the next year.
Floyd, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Bears back in 2016. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $15.7 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $2.6 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Floyd appeared in all 16 games and recorded 47 tackles, four sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery, and four pass defenses for the Bears.
