John Mullin of CSN Chicago writes that Brock Vereen has provedย himself as the “player to beat out” for the Bears No.1 FS position.
- Mullin adds that Vereen will start opposite Ryan Mundy.
โBrock has done a nice job,โ said defensive coordinator Mel Tucker via CSN Chicago. โHe has great attention to detail. Heโs very sound from a technique standpoint. Heโs smart; he plays fast. He does not make a lot of mistakes. Thatโs good to see.
Vereen, a 4th round pick in this year’s NFL Draft, has really made an impression on the Bears coaching staff during Craig Steltz and Chris Conte absence due to injuries, therefore Vereen has the upper hand heading into the campย given that he has played with the Bears first- team defensive backfield during workouts.
