Bears Hosted 8 Players For Tryouts

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears brought in eight players for tryouts on Tuesday including receivers Mario Alford, Montay Crockett, Frankie Hammond and Darreus Rogers and defensive backsĀ Dante Blackmon, Alex Carter, Brian Dixon and Damian Swann.

Hammond, 27, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2013. He spentĀ his rookie year on the Chiefs’ practice squad and later returned to the team on a futures deal.

Kansas City elected to bring Hammond back on an exclusive rights deal in 2015 but he was later cut loose at the start of the 2016 season and signed to their practice squad. The Jets signed him to a future/reserve contract this past January before waiving him last weekend.

In 2015, Hammond appeared in nine games for the Chiefs and totaled 115 punt return yards and no receptions.
